🚪 Can I Move Out Before My 2-Month Notice Period Ends?

Updated over a month ago

If you need to leave before your official notice period ends, you must find a replacement for your bedroom. This ensures a smooth transition and prevents you from paying rent beyond your stay.

🔄 How to Move Out Earlier

1. Submit Your Notice on the Dashboard

  • Go to your Coloc Housing Dashboard under "Current Contract" and submit your 2-month notice.

  • Your notice period officially starts on the 1st of the following month.

2. Find a Replacement

  • You must actively search for a new tenant by:

    • Checking the list of interested applicants on the website.

    • Posting your bedroom on rental websites and social media.

    • Organizing visits and tours for potential replacements.

3. Inform Your Property Manager

  • Contact your property manager as soon as possible to:

    • Adjust the availability of your bedroom online.

    • Ensure your preferred move-out date is listed correctly.

4. New Roomie Must Sign a Contract & Pay the Deposit

  • The new tenant must sign the contract and pay the deposit before your early departure is confirmed.

  • Once this is done, your contract will be officially terminated early.

5. Adjust the Move-Out Date

  • If a new tenant is ready to move in earlier, you can adjust your move-out date on the website.

  • Your final rent amount will be calculated pro-rata, meaning you only pay for the days you stay.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • If you don’t find a replacement, you must continue paying rent until the end of your notice period.

  • Make sure you communicate with your property manager to keep everything aligned.
