Each year, the city sends a city tax bill (sometimes called commune tax) to every registered household.
It usually ranges between €60–€100 per year and is tied to the address, not the rental contract.
📬 Why did I receive this bill?
You received the bill because you are currently the person registered the longest at the address.
The city simply sends it to the oldest registration in their system.
It doesn’t mean you alone have to pay it.
👥 Who should pay the city tax?
The total amount should be split equally between all roomies registered at the house when the bill arrives.
Even if the letter has your name on it, it’s meant for the whole household.
Coloc Housing does not cover this fee. It is each household’s shared responsibility.
🧩 What should I do if I receive one?
Let your roomies know you received a city tax bill.
Check the amount and divide it between everyone currently registered.
Use a tool like Splitwise to track contributions.
If you’re unsure, ask your housemates how they’ve handled it in the past, or message the property manager.
